Penny Drive Dance
Before
morning meeting, students are able to participate by putting coins
into three parrels. The barrels are each marked for the three
grades in our school: 6th, 7th, & 8th. Each grade level participates
as a team. All pennies go into individulal grade barrels. Each penny
is worth 1 point. So if a sixth grader puts 70 pennies into the sixth
grade barrel, the sixth graders would have a total of 70 points, 1
point for each penny. Students can put silver coins into opposing grade's
barrels. Silver coins subtract points. If an eighth grader put a quarter
into the sixth graders barrel it would subtract 25 points from its
total. The team with the most points after nine days wins a school
dance just for their grade level.
