Soccer Results – 9/20/07
The Spartan girls’ soccer team played an aggressive game against RHAM of
Hebron yesterday that ended in a 2-2 tie. Center-midfielder, Catherine Voelpel
dribbled her way through RHAM’s midfielders and defenders to net McGee’s
first goal. Later in the second half, Emma Johnson blasted the ball over the
Sachem’s wall and into the net from outside the 18-yard line on a direct
kick. Also playing strong offensively were Amanda Maule, Brittany Labbadia, Olivia
Hale, and Shannon Murphy. Defensively, McGee was anchored by Dana Hebert, Shayna
Zuk, Jen Petrario, Meaghan Trzasko, and Madison Tavarozzi. Keepers, Robyn Riggott
and Paige Owens were impressive in goal, combining for 13 saves.
The junior varsity team also played to a tie yesterday. Bianca Jacques scored
McGee’s lone goal in the second half and was supported by Courtney Trzasko,
Britt Labbadia, and Paige Owens. Shayna Zuk and Danielle Veronneau played strong
defensively, while Kas Colasanti collected four saves in goal.
The girls play at McGee on Monday against rival, Rocky Hill.
